The Research Institute for Sub-Saharan African Studies is a sub-organization of the SUPPORT AFRICA FOUNDATION. It supports interdisciplinary research in cooperation with universities in Sub-Sahara Africa for the betterment of live conditions of African populations.

The Institute organizes at least one annual conference on the campus of the Foundation. Scientists from all regions in Sub-Sahara Africa are invited to participate in these interdisciplinary conferences. The topics of discussion emerge from scientific papers submitted in response to the award calls.
